CHEF POPUP ALERT! This weekend, Grant Wallace of @thedeerandthedove, will be serving up some seriously tasty food and drinks (locally inspired of course!). In addition to providing craft drinks and food at The Deer and the Dove, you should also know that Grant is the owner of Grant Wallace Farm, a rolling field in Conyers that is covered with aromatic herbs and edible flowers. After hearing about the farm, we had to take a visit.
While many of Grant's herbs are used by chefs around the city, Grant actually transforms many of his herbs into hydrosols, which are botanical waters that contain the essence of the plant. When you distill fresh plant material using a steam process, you're left with aromatic water that can be used for culinary/and or medicinal purposes.
Just think, a spritz of fresh parsley hydrosol on your next salad. Or a misting of cinnamon basil hydrosol on an Old Fashioned cocktail. Or a rose hydrosol on your face to tone and improve your skin's health!
